    Event Description:
Introduction to Project Permitting through the South Sacramento Habitat Conservation Plan

The South Sacramento Habitat Conservation Plan (SSHCP) is a landscape-level master plan for conservation and development in south Sacramento County. The SSHCP will provide a unified process by which project authorization under several environmental permits can be provided by SSHCP Land Use Authorities including the County and the cities of Rancho Cordova and Galt. The SSHCP has now been adopted by all partners, and programmatic-level permits from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and State Water Resources Control Board are anticipated to be issued this Spring. While the SSHCP is expected streamline project permitting, there are permit requirements that housing developers need to be aware of.

The workshop will include an overview of the anticipated SSHCP permitting process, including:

    • Overview of the SSHCP and permits covered
    • Definition of Covered Activities and Covered Species
    • SSHCP requirements for project design
    • Initial studies needed to support the application
    • The SSHCP Permit application process
    • The SSHCP aquatic resources program
    • Development Fees and other Mitigation options
    • Pre- and during-construction compliance
    • Example of project application process and timeline
More information about the SSHCP can be found at: www.southsachcp.com

Speaker will be Taraneh Emam with ECORP Consulting, Inc.
